Sudden Impact, Done in a Meeting

Sudden Impact
The Sudden Impact program of the Junior League of Greater Covington allows volunteers to quickly mobilize and respond to specific and immediate needs of our community. In cooperation with a myriad of community partners, the JLGC completes one-day projects. Community partners are active and well-established non-profit organizations that serve St. Tammany’s community. Some examples of Sudden Impact programs that we’ve recently completed include: Pallets with Purpose (in partnership with the Northshore Food Bank), Habitat for Humanity St. Tammany West Build Day, and Kids in the Kitchen summer camp activities (in partnership with the Archdiocese of New Orleans).

Done in a Meeting
This program is similar to Sudden Impact, as the Junior League of Greater Covington mobilizes and responds to a specific and immediate need during one of our scheduled monthly meetings. Our recent Done in a Meeting projects have included holding a diaper drive for the Northshore Crisis Pregnancy Center, collecting school supplies for flooded classrooms and students, and collecting canned food for the Covington Food Bank.

For JLGC to participate in a Sudden Impact event with an organization, please send a request to suddenimpact@jlgc.net   All requests must be received at a minimum of two months prior to the event and are subject to Board approval.

In addition to the our Sudden Impact and Done in a Meeting Outreach Programs, the JLGC also assists the community throughout the year when there is a demonstrated need by providing monies to organizations based on application and review. A volunteer component is not required.
