Project Prom - March 6, 2010
Twenty-two young ladies from local area high schools participated in the Junior League of Greater Covington annual Project Prom event on Saturday, March 6, 2010. After beginning at 9:00 a.m. with a light breakfast, participants enjoyed presentations on prom etiquette and other related topics. The event concluded with the selection of prom attire, including dresses, shoes, purses, jewelry, and makeup. The Junior League would like to thank those who donated and assisted in making this event a success, particularly the very generous donation from Bridal Manor.

Hope House - January 29, 2010
On January 29, 2010 The Junior League of Greater Covington ( Alison Graffenius &
Skarlett Roa-Hogan ) Presented Hope House ( Jesse Hartley) with a monetary donation of three thousand dollars. The Junior League of Greater Covington is committed to improving our community through developing civic leaders and volunteerism.

Jerk Grill Benefit for Children Museum - January 23, 2010

benefit for the Children's Museum.

Career Corner - January 23, 2010
The Career Corner Workshop was held on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at Dogwood Cottage by the members of the Career Corner Committee. Presentations on resume writing, job applications and interview skills were given. Other topics covered during the workshop were business etiquette and appropriate attire for an interview and job. At the end of the workshop, each attendee was allowed to chose and outfit including purse and shoes.

JLGC at La Provence - January 27, 2010
La Provence held a cocktail reception for members of the Junior League of Greater Covington on January 27, 2010. La Provence is a Chef John Besh restaurant located in Lacombe serving cuisine from Southern France. La Provence's interior has been fully renovated and is available for private dining, weddings and cocktail parties.

Cluster Meeting - January 11, 2010
The Junior League of Greater Covington hosted its first general membership cluster meetings for the 2010 year at its headquarters in Covington, Louisiana, known as "Dogwood Cottage". The JLGC had the honor to have Delly Beekman, the Incoming AJLI President, as a speaker. She spoke to the membership about the upcoming changes in national league, membership statistics, and her vision for the league's future. It was a unique opportunity for the general membership to have a one-on-one visit with an officer of the Association of Junior Leagues International Inc.

Leadership Day - January 9, 2010
JLGC Leadership Day event was held on January 9, 2010 at Dogwood Cottage. Guest speaker was Delly Beekman, Incoming AJLI President.

Sustainer of the Year Cocktail Party - December 11, 2009
On December 11, 2009, a brunch and cocktail party was held at the home of Melissa Whittington to honor the Junior League of Greater Covington Sustainer of the Year: Blanche McCloskey.

Harvest Cup Polo Classic - October 25, 2009
As one of the major fundraisers for the JLGC, the Harvest Cup Polo Classic has become one of the premier fall events on the Northshore. It was held October 25, 2009 at Leah Farms of Louisiana. Enjoy the great photos from the JLGC's annual Polo event!

Read for the Record - October 8, 2009
The 2009 Jumpstart Read for the Record Event, presented by the Junior League of Greater Covington, took place on Thursday, October 8, 2009 at Koop Drive in Mandeville from 9:30 am to 2:00 pm. In this effort to promote childhood literacy, hundreds of thousands of people around the world opened Eric Carle’s beloved book, The Very Hungry Caterpillar and read aloud to children in their communities. Readers of all ages joined together to break the world record for the most children reading the same book on the same day.

Black & White Night - October 2, 2009
Black & White Night was held October 2, 2009 at Bendict's Plantation. The party was held in honor of the Harvest Cup Polo Classic Patrons

Provisional Progressive Dinner - September 24, 2009
The Provisional Progressive Dinner was held at Beau Chene Country Club on September 24, 2009. Provisionals are required to do several hours of community based work before they become active members in the League. The dinner was an opportunity for the class to get to know each other better and become more acquainted with the League's leadership.

Career Corner - September 19, 2009
On Saturday, September 19, 2009, the Junior League of Greater Covington sponsored a free workshop named "Career Corner" for Habitat for Humanity women. Women, who will be moving into a Habitat for Humanity home, received training in resume writing, interviewing, work attire, business etiquette, and grooming from 9 am to noon.
