Junior League of Greater Covington (JLGC) proudly names Sue Osbon, PhD, the 2023 Sustainer ofthe Year in recognition and celebration of her indelible contributions to the League and for the significant impact she has on St. Tammany Parish. The Sustainer of the Year is one of the highest honors awarded within the Junior League and is bestowed annually to a distinguished female leader who demonstrates continuous commitment to the community.

“Junior League is thrilled to honor Sue Osbon as the 2023 Sustainer of the Year. She’s admired for her initiative and commitment to service. Dr. Osbon is an inspiration to current women leaders of JLGC, and she reflects the strong caliber of women the Junior League supports in their leadership journeys. She is a shining example of the JLGC’s mission and has demonstrated her commitment to fostering excellence and service in women’s leadership through community transformation,” said JLGC president, Amy Puerto, O JLGC president, Amy Puerto, ODD.

Dr. Osbon is a lifelong resident of St. Tammany Parish. She received her PhD in Psychology from the University of New Orleans in 1995. An entrepreneur, Dr. Osbon owns Osbon Properties and has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to making a positive difference in her community. Best known for envisioning a headquarters building for JLGC and working diligently to make that vision become a reality. In Dr. Osbon’s humble fashion, she would be quick to share that while owning a headquarters building was her vision, it took the presidents and boards as a team over several years to bring it to life.

Her impact extends far beyond her accomplishments in business and the Junior League. A Leadership St. Tammany alumna, Dr. Osbon was a founding board member of Children’s Advocacy Center’s Hope House, a former board member of St. Tammany Historical Society, and was a founding board member of Covington Heritage Foundation, and started the organization’s History & Holly Home Tour.

Today, she continues to lead women in many organizations and serves on the St Tammany Parish Hospital Board of Commissioners, St Tammany Parish Commission on Cultural Affairs, and the Safe Haven Executive Committee.

Dr. Osbon was formally recognized at the annual Sustainer of the Year Holiday Brunch held on December 2, 2023. The festive event was a celebration of her outstanding achievements and brought together new, active and sustaining members with Dr. Osbon’s family members in attendance to honor her legacy of leadership.

Dr. Osbon’s accomplishments amplify the Junior League’s commitment to shaping leaders who not only excel in their fields but also contribute meaningfully to society. The Sustainer of the Year Award serves as a reminder of the ongoing impact that the Junior League of Greater Covington makes in both its organization and the community, leaving an enduring legacy for future generations.
