Little Black Dress Initiative (LBDI)

Mon, Oct 25 through Sat, Oct 30

Description

Poverty can look like many things – it doesn’t always look like dirty or torn clothes. Sometimes, poverty can look like the same professional dress every day.

The Junior League of Greater Covington raises money for Habitat for Humanity of St. Tammany West through our Little Black Dress Initiative.

Participants will wear the same black dress for five consecutive days to illustrate the effects poverty can have on a woman’s access to resources, her confidence, and professional opportunities. By wearing a button that reads “Ask Me About My Dress,” we invite dialogue among colleagues, friends, and strangers to raise awareness about poverty.

The Little Black Dress Initiative is not just a week wearing a black dress. It is about harnessing the power of our community to make a difference.
