Girls Health Day 2019 Huge Success!

 

The Junior League of Greater Covington and Lakeview Regional Medical Center in Covington hosted Girls Health Day on Saturday, January 26, 2019, from 9:30 am-12:30 pm.  The annual event is for girls aged 8-14 and was attended by 150 girls and 100 moms according to Kim Melvin, director of marketing at Lakeview Regional Medical Center.

Health talks were given on Puberty and the Changes to Expect; Bullying; Basics in CPR; Empowerment;  Coping and Communication Skills; Social Media and Internet Safety; Cyber Crime and more.

Dr. Brandee Simon-Davis, Girls Health Day Founder and physician of Lakeview Regional Physician Group, as well as  JLGC sustaining member said: “Girls Health Day is designed as a platform for mothers and daughters to grow closer while learning more about healthy living.”

Attendees were able to participate in a hands-on demonstration with a Da Vinci robotic surgical machine as well as receiving free health screenings for vision, BMI and blood pressure checks, dental hygiene checks, scoliosis screening and knee screens by local physicians and therapists. Girls also enjoyed door prizes and giveaways.
